NOT GOOD. This property is not well maintained or clean enough per business standards. It is run down. That is why the cost is so low. The outside space is not an inviting place to sit since the dogs use it to do their business, and the owner fails to clean it up promptly. Although individual rooms were lockable by fingerprint, the front door was always left open/unlocked. Unsafe.

The proximity to San Francisco is the only positive. However, it is not in a particularly pleasant part of Oakland itself either.

I overlooked negative reviews due to all of the positive ones. After staying there (aka sticking it out,) I have my doubts about the veracity and validity of the positive reviews. Seriously.

I do not feel my standards are exceptionally high or unreasonable. This place is NOT GOOD.

The owner was extremely rude to me. I booked a room online through the website & he acted like he had no idea I was coming. He was also disrespectful to my boss & I. If you plan on staying here, I highly recommend to use Airbnb instead of this website. If you book through the website, the owner may have no clue you’re coming! I’m lucky he didn’t kick me out like he has seemingly done to others (read the reviews). Such a beautiful house & you can tell the guy is cool when he isn’t mad at you for paying him through HIS WEBSITE instead of Airbnb.

At first I was disappointed that we were not staying at an establishment. When we drove to the location it looked like a run-down house. I was a little concerned. But once I called the guy he showed us around. The rooms were nice but there were no TVs. At first I wasn't too happy about that but me and my wife we're okay with playing with her phones. At the end of the day I feel pretty comfortable staying at this place. We booked it for 40 something dollars. Which is a pretty good price regardless. I wasn't happy when the dude asked for an additional $20 for my wife. It was close to a lot of restaurants and stores. Is located in downtown Oakland. If you want the real Oakland experience this place is for you!

I booked Adeline Garden for a friend, who has sung nothing but praises about the space, the hosts hospitality, and the amazing breakfast! The host Michael has been extremely kind in his interactions with me. I would recommend this place, sight unseen.
However, I'm now taking one star off. The host Michael had offered a partial refund for one unused night and one pre-paid breakfast, which was also not used. Despite a series of texts promising a refund, nothing has appeared, more than a month later.

I absolutely loved my experience here. The atmosphere is completely rich with sound effects and lights. Very clean and tranquil. I worked all weekend and was able to complete all my work and in a timely fashion.

The customer service was awesome, they completely accommodate me in my venture to the Bay Area. 5-Star service to say the least. Can’t wait to book again.

I love the decor!
The house is quirky and beautiful!
The host introduced himself as MJ.
Pretty low key cat, smooth.
Offered payment options and gave me security codes to the front door and my room.
Because of my crazy hours I've missed every breakfast so I cannot compliment on that aspect.
The house has some small unfinished parts but you will overlook this for it's artistic nature.
I only came for an affordable place to flop for a few weeks but, I'm planning on spending a week in the Bay area with my family next year and I KNOW my wife and son would like this place.

Mr. MJ is a very professional and hospitable host, very cozy establishment to rest and revive whether on vacation or simply just need to treat yourself. His pets are very well behaved and obedient. The house offers wifi, an impressive menu to order from, on site 3$ laundry and the aroma therapy is very soothing. This place is a hidden gem in west Oakland, you will honestly enjoy a stay here.

Llegamos al lugar a las 22:00 y nos encontramos a un guest un poco asustado y nos dijo que el hombre se puso a limpiar su habitación justo ahora que acababa de llegar y que estaba esperando y que todo tenía mala pinta. Y luego salió el hombre de la habitación súper serio y le decimos: hola, tenemos una reserva por booking y mira un poco un móvil y dice: está llena la casa hoy. Y le decimos: cómo que está llena? Si tenemos una reserva por booking? Y dice: es que os he enviado un mensaje preguntando a qué hora llegáis y si la gente no contesta hasta las 6 de la tarde, vendo la habitación a otra persona, así que vosotros ya no teneis habitación. Y le decimos: no perdona pero al reservar por booking tienes asegurada la habitación siempre. Y nos dice: que no tenéis habitación! y nos echó de su casa. El hombre daba verdadero miedo y todo era rarísimo y daba mal rollo. Terrible.
