This restaurant is in a beautiful place with amazing views of the point of Arradon and really feels very comfortable, however there are a couple of things that let it down. The food is interesting should we say, with some flavours that didn’t quite match, such as the goats cheese ice cream with strawberry pavlova. Also a couple of us had the rump steak but unfortunately it was a little chewy, despite it being cooked rare. This was disappointing for the quality of food that the restaurant is trying to achieve although we also had some very tasty dishes, so the food was generally very good.
Some of the service in the restaurant was probably what let it down most, there was a young man that served most of our food and drink and it would have been nice if he could have managed a smile, we felt like he was not really enjoying his job and looked disinterested and a little condescending. Also if you are going to take the wine and pour it rather than leaving it on the customer’s table, then the staff should make sure you don’t have an empty glass for too long! There was also another gentleman who appeared to be a manager and he too could have been a little more gracious and friendly, it’s a shame! The female staff were very pleasant and so were the reception staff.

This review is for the restaurant only as we have no experience of the hotel.

Had lunch today. Been before. Location great. Food very good, but you need to like fish. Blue Lobster very tasty but expensive. Service mixed. Very very good waitress to start who spoke immaculate French and English. Her male colleague not so great. Did not get third wine from Trio. Had to ask twice for coffee. No apology. We were there to celebrate a key life moment but experience was tarnished by service that for the second part of our meal did not meet or beat expectations.

Stayed for 2 nights. Beautiful location right on the seafront and attentive staff. Had dinner one night and found it to be overpriced. A bottle of Cote de Provence Rose (only Rose available) at €60 was excellent but expensive. An entree of Lieu Jaune was tiny and expensive at €28. Having a shower in the bath is an accident waiting to happen. Overall it was acceptable but would not recommend.

Thank you for your reply below. For information I did not on departure last week say everything was fine because I wasn’t asked if everything was fine. Secondly the wine list I was given had one bottle of Rose on it priced at €60 so there was no misunderstanding on my part.

Great view, good food, friendly service.

Placed inside the restaurant, all tables have a wonderful view across the bay. I recommend to enjoy it with a glass of wine, only.

The food was ambiguously prepared and is good, but not great. In general, you will get just too much. Some ingredients just do not match well, are too sour or not seasoned properly. The fish, however, was perfectly on point, its skin was crisp and delicious.

Sadly, they didn't offer accompanied wines, which you would expect from an upscale restaurant. Instead, they made fun of us after asking for that wine option (not knowing that we would understand some French).

The service was very friendly, in general, though.

In general, we paid 260 Euros for the medium menu (4 courses), including wine and a bottle of water.

This review is for the restaurant, only.

It was perfect: excellent starters, very good dessert. But ... we had chosen brill as our main course and they brought us ... the pollack that was on the cheaper menu. I pointed this out. And then disaster struck: instead of apologising and saying that there had been a mix-up in the kitchen - which we would have understood - they persisted with the most implausible explanations: the segment (clearly visible in the photo) was a fillet roll that I misinterpreted (sic), the short, stocky backbones were in fact flat, tight bones that had been cut to make them look nicer (sic). I say: "Look, I've been a sea fisherman: I know what I'm talking about, I don't confuse the firm flesh of brill, a noble fish, with the flaky flesh of pollack, a vile fish, I know how to distinguish the bones of a spindle-shaped fish from a flat fish", to no avail: we're assured that the chef is formal. Appalling! They bring us a glass of champagne (?) to shut us up. As I said, it's good, but it's appalling that the customer should be fooled thinking that the sucker will never know the difference between brill and pollack.

We loved Les Venetes from the moment we saw it! We couln't have had a friendlier welcome from Manuela at Reception, and all the staff were lovely and helpful. Located right on the water with lovely rooms overlooking the bay, Les Venetes is a lovely hotel with a terrific restaurant. There are only 9 rooms and the restaurant gets busy so book ahead! We had a delicious fresh fish 3-course supper in the evening and breakfast (fresh bread and croissants) was perfect.||Our room (room 9) was in the attic, no balcony, but had a great view of the Bay, with plenty of space, light and bright decor, and a coffee maker. Our friends had rooms on the first floor with balconies. ||You can't swim in fron of the hotel but just a 2 minute walk takes you to the Capitanerie where the water was boat free and clean.
